Outbound student

It is well realised now that Pranav is very happy at SIT. There is, however, this strange feeling that some people may ask why he has been sent to SIT, in Lonavala,Pune and not studying here, in Mumbai.People may think that Pranav has very scored poor marks.I know it is not so.He did get a seat into Chemical engg. in a Mumbai college and could have got seat in a Mumbai college for 'Electronics & Telecommunication' in the subsequent rounds. But when he did get EXTC at SIT and paid the fees and stayed there for few days he developed such an enduring liking for his college and campus that we now feel it is better for him to be at SIT.

We do feel void in life, at present, as our son has gone to stay in a residential campus college, but feel strongly that it may help him in preparing for life.Today, when I was browsing thru I came across some notes on OUTDOOR ACTITIES or OUTBOUND ACTIVITIES. I felt very strong to reproduce few the point why it is necessary for Pranav to stay outdoor. They are as follows:

Why Outdoor

  1. Increased self sufficiency
  2. Meeting people more easily
    Breaking down sex barriers
  3. Increased self-awareness
    Increased awareness of others
  4. Intense personal contact
    Appreciation of wilderness
  5. New wilderness skills
    Adaptability to new situations
  6. Self-confidence
    Escape from pressures
  7. Appreciation of civilization
    Increased self-esteem
  8. Fun
    Leveler
  9. Increased self-reliance
    New random group
  10. Pushing limits
    Seeing worth in others
  11. Education outside the classroom
    Teaching responsibility to others
  12. Awareness of how your actions effect others
    Appreciation of the natural environment
  13. Honesty & Self-disclosure

We sincerely hope that Pranav will make good use of all the opportunities that he has now got for excelling in life.

Amen!
